LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy affirms and celebrates all of the diverse identities and lived experiences within the queer community. LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy provides a safe and supportive space where you can focus on your reasons for coming to therapy without the fear of rejection or having to explain aspects of your identity.
At Groundswell Counseling, I know that members of the LGBTQIA+ community face unique challenges, stigma and discrimination. I understand why pronouns matter, the difficulty of navigating coming-out conversations, the pain of homophobia and transphobia, and the importance of gender affirming care.
I adhere to best practices and guidelines set forth by the WPATH (World Professional Association of Transgender Health) Standards of Care 8. As a queer identifying therapist, I strive to provide safe, compassionate and identity-affirming therapeutic support to everyone, regardless of how you identity. You do not need to identity as LGBTQIA+ to benefit from LGBTQIA+ inclusive therapy.
“Queer not as being about who you’re having sex with (that can be a dimension of it); but queer as being about the self that is at odds with everything around it and has to invent and create and find a place to speak and to thrive and to live.”
